Norfolk is known as the financial and arts hub of the entire region and boasts our own World Trade Center. Norfolk is known for its dry-dock ship repair and NIT a large container terminal for importing and exporting. The Norfolk Naval Station is one of the largest Naval Bases in the world.

The area is known for its fresh local seafood and restaurants of various ethnicities. Chesapeake Bay blue crabs, yellowfin tuna, Mahi-Mahi, and oysters are a local and tourist favorite!

Norfolk is geographically situated between the Chesapeake Bay and the Elizabeth and Lafayette Rivers. Boating and fishing are popular hobbies that take place almost year-round. There are several miles of sandy white beaches in Ocean View and riverbanks throughout the city. The city is home to a convenient airport, the Norfolk Zoo, and Norfolk Botanical Gardens. The Elizabeth River Trail is a 10.5-mile-long bike and pedestrian trail along the scenic river.

Norfolk is close to Virginia Beach, Colonial Williamsburg, and within driving distance of Washington, D.C., OBX, and Charlottesville. Federal and Victorian architecture can be found in the downtown Norfolk Historic District, where there are homes built in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The Ghent neighborhood is full of these historic and very unique homes. Other popular residential neighborhoods in Norfolk are Larchmont, Loch Haven, Meadowbrook, Algonquin, West Ghent, and East Beach in Ocean View.
